REVRLaw (REal and Virtual Reality Law) will allow students to explore real case scenarios using immersive virtual reality technology.

The project, called ‘REVRLaw: An Immersive for Teaching Criminal Law Using Virtual Reality’, is a joint venture between Westminster Law School and the university’s Department of Computer Science. Currently still in its pilot stage, REVRLaw aims to offer an immersive way for students in the university’s LLB and Masters of Law programs to learn about the law of murder. Students will be able to virtually navigate crime scenes and real scenarios to discover key evidence and determine whether a case is murder or not. ‘This platform provides a state-of-the-art opportunity for Criminal Law students to expand upon the valuable skills that they learn in a Law degree. It immerses them in realistic crime scenes and requires them to use those skills,’ says Dr Paresh Kathrani, a senior lecturer at Westminster Law School. The project is still in its testing stages, and will be used to supplement (rather than substitute) lecture material if it makes it in front of students.
