The International Criminal Bar (BPI-ICB) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of the personal data of its members, event participants, website visitors, and collaborators. 2. Information We Collect and Purposes of Processing

We process personal data only when necessary to achieve our organizational objectives:

  • Membership Management: Processing registration details, professional accreditation, contact information, and payment records to maintain bar membership, issue credentials, and manage committee participation.
  • Event & Webinar Registration: Processing delegate contact details, professional titles, and logistics requirements to host international conferences, assemblies, and legal training programs.
  • Communications & Newsletters: Sending updates on legal developments, human rights alerts, bar events, and official press releases (requires opt-in consent).
  • Website Inquiries & Support: Responding to contact form submissions, general inquiries, and legal support requests.
  • Website Security & Analytics: Collecting basic server log data (IP addresses, browser type, timestamps) and aggregated analytical data to maintain website security and optimize performance.

3. Lawful Basis for Processing (Article 6 GDPR)

We rely on the following legal bases to process your personal data:

  • Contractual Necessity (Art. 6.1.b): Processing required to perform our membership agreement or facilitate event registration.
  • Legal Obligation (Art. 6.1.c): Processing necessary to comply with applicable Spanish and European legal, accounting, and tax regulations.
  • Consent (Art. 6.1.a): Sending newsletters, promotional communications, or sharing member directory details publicly (where explicitly opted into). You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate Interest (Art. 6.1.f): Maintaining network security, preventing fraud, and managing organizational outreach directly aligned with our non-profit mission.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

BPI-ICB does not sell, rent, or lease personal data to third parties. We share data only under the following conditions:

  • Data Processors: Trusted technical service providers bound by strict data processing agreements (e.g., website hosting platforms, email dispatch providers, secure payment gateways).
  • Legal Mandate: When required by competent judicial authorities or governmental bodies under applicable law.
  • Member Directories: Professional profile details are published in public or member-only directories only with prior explicit consent.

5. International Data Transfers

Given our global mission, some service providers or organizational partners may be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Whenever personal data is transferred outside the EEA, BPI-ICB ensures appropriate safeguards are in place, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or adequacy decisions adopted by the European Commission.

6. Data Retention

We store your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected:

  • Active Memberships: Retained for the duration of membership plus applicable legal prescription periods under Spanish law (typically up to 5–6 years for tax/financial records).
  • Event Participants: Retained until the event is concluded and financial auditing obligations expire.
  • Newsletter Subscribers: Retained until you click the "Unsubscribe" link or withdraw consent.
  • General Inquiries: Retained for up to 12 months after resolving the request.

7. Your Data Subject Rights

Under Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

Women and girls on death row require specific gender-based responses and policies.

GENEVA (10 October 2018) – Speaking on the World Day Against the Death Penalty, UN human rights experts* urge Governments around the world to address the situation of women and girls on death row:

“Women and girls are an invisible death row population whose plight and needs are too often ignored. Today, we call on States to address the multiple violations of human rights and gender-based discrimination faced by women and girls on death row.

"Estamos extremadamente alarmados por el creciente número de ataques a la sociedad civil a medida que las elecciones se acercan", dijeron los Relatores Especiales de las Naciones Unidas sobre las libertades de reunión pacífica y de asociación, Maina Kiai; Sobre la libertad de opinión y expresión, David Kaye; Y sobre la situación de los defensores de los derechos humanos, Michel Forst.

 

A lo largo de un almuerzo el día Lunes 3 de Octubre 2017 y por iniciativa del Club diplomático de Génova, nuestro Secretario general Philippe Currat tuvo la ocasión de intercambiar impresiones con el Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas, Ban Ki.moon sobre el CAPI y de la creación así como el reconocimiento esperado en la próxima Asamblea de los Estados Partes del nuevo colegio, el ABCPI/ICCBA.

 

 

Le Séminaire permanent "Luis del Castillo" sur la Justice Pénale Internationale est né au sein du Barreau Pénal International avec le but d'être un instrument de formation, de recherche, de débat intellectuel et d'échange d'idées de la communauté juridique internationale la justice internationale.

Sa première édition en Catalogne, sera consacrée à l'activation du futur Master International en justice pénale internationale pour commencer en Février 2018, réunissant les coordinateurs des différents modules dans un contenu de travail de conception, l'harmonisation des techniques enseignement virtualisé et débat sur les stratégies de formation juridique des acteurs juridiques internationaux. Les participants assisteront à des juges, des procureurs et du personnel de la Cour pénale internationale et d'autres tribunaux internationaux, des avocats du Barreau de la CPI, chercheur et professeur dans diverses universités et centres de recherche, et le personnel technique des organisations internationales.

L'événement a été divisé en trois jours qui ont été menées cérémonie d'ouverture institutionnelle du séminaire à la salle plénière de la ville de Tarragone, avec le maire, M. Josep Fèlix Ballesteros, la Présentation générale du Master Justice pénale internationale: sa mission, sa vision, ses objectifs, ses méthodes d'enseignement, sa structure académique, son programme, son contenu et sa dynamique de sujet; et la présentation du contenu et des propositions d'enseignement pour les sujets du Master à l'Université Rovira i Virgili de Tarragone et au Barreau de Tarragona - ICAT

L'événement a été suivi par M. Fabricio Guariglia, M. Esteban Peralta Losilla de la CPI. M. Santiago Castella, directeur académique du Master, Président d'honneur de la CFPI M. El Arab Lawyers Union, miembro del CAPI, condena a través de este comunicado los atentados llevados a cabo por el Estado Islámico en Bélgica el pasado 22 de Marzo.

The ALU General Secretariat condemns, in the strongest terms the terrorist attacks in the Belgium capital, the headquarters of the European Union, Brussels. Where it targeted civilians at the airport and metro stations at the morning rush time. These attacks left large numbers of deaths and casualties. It was followed by a declaration of a state of maximum alert and the closure of the borders. Other European countries, also, declared strict security measures in anticipation of expected attacks. These criminal operations just follow the announcement of arresting of the mastermind of Paris last year the attacks, Salah Abdel-Salam.

Dear Madam, Sir,

The Defence Office of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon thank you again for your participation in the Fourth International Meetings of Defence Offices which were held in London, on 25th and 26th of November 2016.

Please find attached the Summary report of the Meetings in French, English and Arabic. 

You will also find attached the questionnaire on Defence Investigations, which we thank you for completing in the language of your choice, and sending back to us, if you have not already done so. As Johann said during the Meetings,your answers will be very useful in that they will illustrate the Guide to Investigations with concrete examples from you experience.
