Again, Amnesty International shows the most exciting face of the situation in which we live. Human Rights are or should be inalienable to any person.

The BPI-ICB has among its objectives the defense of human rights, and in that sense, the video helps us to express our feelings of support and commitment.

We recommend visiting the website of Amnesty International and support the campaign being carried out.

Don't turn your back on those who need you to stick up for them.

Very good job, congratulations, You are doing a commendable job!

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has formally asked Ugandan government to explain its failure to arrest and surrender Sudan’s President, Omar al-Bashir for trial.

Bashir, who is wanted for alleged war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in Darfur was in Uganda on May 12 to witness the swearing in of President Yoweri Museveni.

During the ceremony, Museveni described the ICC as ‘a bunch of useless people’, saying they had withdrawn their initial support for the court after realising that it was a ‘useless body’. Museveni said issues of the ICC do not concern them (African leaders).

From the BPI we want to show our support for the family attorney John Jones QC, and for that reason, we publish the letter written by Aurora Bewicke letter for him.

A loss both truly personal and global.

There are few people I have met that touched me the way John did, intellectually, as a role model, and as so much more. In the past 10 years, hardly a day has gone by I haven’t thought of him.

From the story of how we met, with his accidentally mispronouncing a Chinese word, turning into something quite comical, to our trips together around Europe-flying me to Switzerland to eat oysters and drink champagne or hiking on the far north islands on The Netherlands, to our mutual passion for international law, with me looking up to him in so many ways, and even on to him spending time with my father.

After parting ways, I thought of him every step of my career, following in his steps in subtle ways, from building languages, to working with the UN, taking on political criminal defense cases, including once almost ending up on the same case, and even pursuing a degree at Oxford.

He introduced me to the International Criminal Bar, many of the members now having become like family.

I do not know why he has departed this earth, but I still hold his spirit close to mine, wish that his memories live on, and pray his family and friends find peace in this shared loss.

Next September the Unione delle Camere Penali Italiane celebrates its XVI Congress in Bologna, will keep you informed as more information becomes.

The international criminal court yesterday, Tuesday 19 April 2016 celebrated the opening of the new offices of the Court.

Official Opening of the Permanent Premises of the International Criminal Court.

The ceremony was presided over by the King of Holland, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

The BPI-ICB had the privilege to have two guests, our presidents, Mrs. Roxane Helme QC, and Mr. David Lèvy.

The new court offices meet the goal of modernizing the European justice that has been pursued in recent years. With better facilities may offer a higher quality of justice. An International justice, an global justice with reliable and quality.

It is a pride that the BPI-ICB may be present in such acts, representing many members, and ensuring our interests before the International Criminal Court.

The BPI-ICB adds to the complaint and rejects any violation of human rights.

The German lawyer’s association International Criminal Defence Lawyers Germany e.V. (ICDL) expresses its deepest concerns about two recent death sentences issued by the International Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh. This is based on the objections that have been articulated by the defendant’s advocates as well as by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) regarding the failure to adhere to international fair trial standards in the course of these legal proceedings.
