On 25 January 2019, the President of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or "the Court") Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji participated in a high-level event in commemoration of the Rome Statute's 20th anniversary held in Madrid, Spain. The event was presided by H.E. Josep Borrell, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain. ICC President Eboe-Osuji also met with the Spanish Minister of Justice H.E. Dolores Delgado García.

 During his visit, Judge Eboe-Osuji expressed his gratitude for the continued support of Spain for the ICC and spoke about the Court's impact in his remarks. "The Rome Statute has been a catalyst for tens of States Parties to include international crimes in their national criminal codes, as well as to start investigating and prosecuting such crimes", he said.

"The International Criminal Court is essential in the fight against impunity for crimes against humanity, genocide and war crimes", said the Minister of Justice H.E. Dolores Delgado.

Adopted on 17 July 1998, the Rome Statute is the founding treaty of the ICC, supported by over 120 countries. The International Criminal Court is the first permanent international criminal court established to help end impunity for the perpetrators of the most serious crimes of concern to the international community, namely war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and the crime of aggression.

The Defence Office of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon thank you again for your participation in the Fourth International Meetings of Defence Offices which were held in London, on 25th and 26th of November 2016.

Please find attached the Summary report of the Meetings in French, English and Arabic. 

You will also find attached the questionnaire on Defence Investigations, which we thank you for completing in the language of your choice, and sending back to us, if you have not already done so. As Johann said during the Meetings,your answers will be very useful in that they will illustrate the Guide to Investigations with concrete examples from you experience.
